SutiSoft Inc., a trusted provider of hosted and enterprise solutions today announced the release of BioPass Plus, a biometric authentication solution for providing role-based access to enterprise network and enterprise resources.
BioPass Plus eliminates the vulnerabilities associated with password based authentication, prevents intruder attacks to enterprise networks, and eliminates WLAN weaknesses found in WEP and WPA security methods.
BioPass Plus is a client-server solution in which client captures the username and fingerprint template. The server verifies template against previously stored templates for that user. The solution uses a best-in class algorithm for fingerprint matching. As a result, the performance and accuracy is unmatched. BioPass Plus integrates with LDAP & Active Directory to integrate existing users of the organization. Users can also use their fingerprints to lock and unlock their systems. The solution is scalable and fits the needs of SMB’s and large enterprises.
BioPass Plus does not transmit a fingerprint image. It extracts salient points from the image, called minutiae points, and uses them for authentication. While the minutiae can be extracted from a fingerprint image, one cannot take the minutiae and develop the original fingerprint image. This eliminates the chance of the fingerprint image being lost, stolen or misused.
Users register their usernames and fingerprint templates with BioPass Plus before they begin using the solution.
When a registered user wants to access the enterprise network, they select the wireless network they wish to connect to, and enter their username and fingerprint to authenticate them. These details are verified against the already registered details. If verification fails, users are asked to re-authenticate. On successful verification, users are authenticated and given access the wireless network and their systems.
If the wireless network is not available, users are given access to the wired network and their systems. In case of unavailability of the wired network, users are given access only to their systems.
The Simple Sign-On (SSO) utility allows users to register credentials of web applications they use. Users are able to login to the web applications by authenticating with their fingerprints. Users can also encrypt & decrypt files and folders by using their fingerprints as the authentication method.
If disconnected, users can re-gain access to the enterprise network by simply authenticating themselves with their fingerprints.
